
Barrington Stampede is the development program for Barrington Youth Lacrosse. Through coordination of the Barrington High School Lacrosse Program and in addition to the traditional BYL Spring lacrosse season, Barrington Stampede harnesses the enthusiasm and competitive spirit for the game of lacrosse throughout the year for selected BYL players.

Stampede is a competitive training program consisting of box lacrosse opportunities designed to spark further development of experienced lacrosse players with an emphasis on team concepts, positional training and advanced skill work.​

Note: Stampede players are required to successfully complete a lacrosse skills challenge and be able to commit to practice, scrimmages and tournaments during each Stampede season.

The Winter Box Program is open to boys in grades 3/4 5/6 7/8 and High School in the Barrington community and surrounding areas. Our Winter Box Program is a competitive box lacrosse program designed to further develop lacrosse players, while learning the fundamentals and game concepts of box lacrosse. ​​

Skill Assessment Required. Prospective players must successfully complete a lacrosse skills challenge in order to be play on a Stampede Lacrosse Team. ​

Girls in 3rd-8th grade are welcome to participate in the Boys box program.

Girls 7/8/9th grade will have a separate box team.

Players need a full set of lacrosse equipment to participate including a helmet(box helmet preferred), shoulder pad(not chest pad), rib pad, elbow pads, gloves and mouthguard.

Q: Do players have to tryout for Barrington Stampede Barrington Stampede Box Lacrosse?
A: Prospective players must successfully complete a lacrosse skills challenge in order to play on a Stampede Lacrosse Team. This skills requirement is designed to create an elevated baseline of core lacrosse skills to best allow for successful training on team concepts, positional training and advanced skill work.​ Stampede players will also be required to commit to the practice and tournament schedule in order to be placed on a Barrington Stampede team.

Q: How is Barrington Stampede Different?
A: Barrington Stampede is the new competitive program for BYL that provides new lacrosse opportunities for BYL players in addition to the traditional Spring season. Barrington Stampede offers 2 programs including:
1. Winter Box Lacrosse program (October-January)
2. Spring/Summer Development program with a minimum of 2 tournaments (March-June)

Point: Think of the traditional BYL Spring season as the recreation soccer or baseball league and Barrington Stampede as the new "old school" travel team....but for lacrosse in Barrington. ​

Q: Do Stampede players have to play both the Winter Box and Spring/Summer Development programs.
A: No. Barrington Stampede players can apply to play on either season of Stampede. However, roster priority will be given to players participating in both programs when roster spots are limited.

Q: Who are the Barrington Stampede coaches?
A: Barrington Stampede Coaches are comprised of BYL Coaches, BHS Coaches and BHS Varsity Players. The Stampede curriculum is designed to be a training extension of the Barrington High School lacrosse program with specialized training for Stampede coaches.
Q: Is there an additional fee for Barrington Stampede?
A: Yes. Program fees will be posted soon, but please note that Barrington Stampede is still being operated as a community-based program in order to keep registration fees as low as possible and keep the focus on developing lacrosse players. ​​
